1-2-1 Dog Training 🐾
Dog training can take place on a 1-2-1 basis with you and your dog in the comfort of your own home, or through structured training walks where appropriate. These sessions are ideal for addressing a wide range of common training needs such as:
-
Loose lead walking
-
Jumping up
-
Recall
-
Separation issues
-
Visitor/front door manners
-
Chewing or mild problem behaviours
-
Grooming and handling difficulties
If, during assessment, your dog’s needs appear more suited to a behavioural consultation, we will guide you through the next steps to ensure you receive the right support.
Home-based sessions can be especially beneficial for dogs who:
-
Feel anxious or nervous around other dogs or people
-
May find group classes overwhelming or unproductive
-
Become easily over-excited in social situations
In these cases, 1-2-1 training provides a calm, focused environment to build confidence before progressing to a group setting.
Every 1-2-1 session is tailored to you and your dog, and you’ll also receive ongoing support via phone or email between visits. This format is not only effective for resolving everyday training challenges but also a fantastic way to strengthen your bond and discover fun, rewarding activities to enjoy together.
Tellington TTouch® Training
Tellington TTouch® is a gentle, no-force approach to training, rehabilitation, and handling. It combines two key elements:
-
Light bodywork: Slow, gentle touches that stimulate the dog’s nervous system to release tension, improve body awareness, and encourage better posture and movement.
-
Groundwork exercises: Calm, controlled movement exercises (can be on or off-lead) that teach dogs balanced movement, build confidence, and enhance focus.
Each session is tailored on a 1-2-1 basis, where we assess your dog’s individual needs and create a personalised training plan. You’ll learn practical, take-home skills to:
-
Better understand your dog’s body language and communication
-
Use leash-handling techniques that promote calmness and focus
-
Apply bodywork to support your dog’s confidence and reduce anxiety
How Tellington TTouch® can help
This method can be beneficial for many common issues, including:
-
Anxiety (e.g. car travel, other dogs or people, vet visits)
-
Handling concerns (grooming, husbandry, vet care)
-
Posture or balance difficulties
-
Puppies learning about the world
-
Dogs involved in agility or sports
-
Noise sensitivity and general stress
In addition to 1-2-1 sessions, we also run group workshops throughout the year, offering a chance to learn and practise these techniques in a supportive environment.

Specialist training for grooming and handling struggles 🐾
Helping Dogs Cope with Grooming
Does your dog find trips to the grooming parlour stressful? Or perhaps everyday grooming tasks such as brushing, nail trimming, or bathing are a struggle?
Many breeds need regular grooming to stay healthy and comfortable, but for some dogs the experience can trigger anxiety, fear, or even reactive behaviour. Unfortunately, most groomers receive little or no training in canine behaviour, which can make matters worse if dogs are handled under pressure. This often reinforces fear and can escalate their reactions over time.
With over 15 years’ experience working with dogs overcome their grooming struggles I can offer 1-2-1 training with you and your dog using reward based training and holistic methods to grow:
-
Confidence and calmness in the grooming environment
-
Positive associations with handling, tools, and procedures
-
Cooperation through fun, short training games
I work closely with owners, and where appropriate, your existing groomer, to create a tailored training programme. Using simple three-minute games you can practise at home, we gradually help your dog learn to relax and cope with grooming and handling.
With patience and the right approach, grooming doesn’t have to be stressful — it can become a positive, confidence-building experience for both you and your dog.
